WHAT HAPPENS AT A WORKSHOP?

 

YOU COME PREPARED TO HAVE A GREAT TIME! THE BOARD SIZE AND DESIGN ARE CHOSEN WHEN YOU REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP AT A MINIMUM OF 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE AND THEN THE FUN BEGINS! PART OF THIS PROCESS INCLUDES SANDING, STAINING, ASSEMBLING, AND PAINTING YOUR VERY OWN BOARD. COME READY TO CREATE YOUR OWN DIY MASTERPIECE. 

 

HOW MUCH IS A WORKSHOP?

 

COST CAN VARY FROM $40-65 PER BOARD/PERSON, PLUS TAXES AND FEES DEPENDING ON DESIGN CHOICE.

*****WORKSHOPS HELD WITHIN 1-2 HOURS FROM LYNCHBURG HAVE AN ADDITIONAL $5 PER REGISTRATION.THIS REGISTRATION FEE CAN BE PAID BY THE GUESTS OR THE HOST. OUT OF TOWN WORKSHOPS ARE PREFERRED TO BE SCHEDULED ON WEEKENDS AND REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 8 PEOPLE. *****

 

IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT TO ATTEND A WORKSHOP?

 

YES. DUE TO THE TOOLS USED & NATURE OF THE WORKSHOP, WE REQUIRE THAT PARTICIPANTS BE 16 YEARS OR OLDER FOR OUR REGULAR SIZE BOARDS. AT THE TIME OF BOOKING THE HOST HAS THE OPTION TO ALLOW GUESTS TO REGISTER A CHILD IN ADDITION TO THEIR BOARD. IF THIS IS CHOSEN BY THE HOST, GUESTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION ON THEIR REGISTRATION LINK TO PURCHASE A SMALL BOARD FOR A CHILD TO MAKE AT THE WORKSHOP WITH THEM.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I HOST A WORKSHOP?

AS A HOST,​ ONCE YOU BOOK YOUR DATE THROUGH OUR ONLINE BOOKING CALENDAR AND PAY THE $55 DEPOSIT, YOU WILL RECEIVE A PRIVATE REGISTRATION LINK WITHIN 7 DAYS. YOU ARE ABLE TO SHARE THAT LINK WITH YOUR POTENTIAL GUESTS SO THEY CAN SELECT THEIR DESIGN, REGISTER, AND PAY FOR THEIR WORKSHOP. THIS LINK WILL CLOSE 72 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR WORKSHOP. THIS ALLOWS US TO PREP MATERIALS AND FINALIZE DETAILS. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE MINIMUM OF FOUR(4) GUESTS TO RECEIVE YOUR SIGN FOR FREE. YOU WILL RECEIVE A LINK TO MAKE YOUR PURCHASE AT THAT TIME. YOU WILL ALSO BE REFUNDED YOUR FULL DEPOSIT AS WELL WITH THE FOUR SIGNED UP.

CANCELLATION POLICY - WE REQUIRE 21 DAYS(3 WEEKS) FROM YOUR REGISTRATION CLOSE DATE TO FULLY REFUND YOUR DEPOSIT. WE REQUIRE A DEPOSIT BECAUSE OF THE HIGH DEMAND FOR OPEN WORKSHOP DATES. WHEN WE BLOCK OUT BOOKED DATES, WE ARE COMMITTING TO PROVIDE THE WORKSHOP FOR YOU AND YOUR GUESTS.

DOES EVERYONE MAKE THE SAME SIGN?

 

NO. PLEASE VIEW OUR AVAILABLE DESIGNS TO SEE WHAT CHOICES YOU HAVE. BE SURE TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE DESIGN YOU LIKE. YOU WILL BE ASKED FOR YOUR DESIGN CHOICE DURING CHECKOUT. MANY OF OUR SIGNS CAN ALSO BE PERSONALIZED, SO LOOK FOR DETAILS DURING CHECKOUT. OUR DESIGN OPTIONS ARE GROWING DAILY.

DO I NEED TO TELL YOU IN ADVANCE WHAT COLORS AND STAIN I WANT TO USE?

 

NO. WE HAVE A VARIETY OF STAIN CHOICES & PAINT COLORS TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR STYLE AND PREFERENCE! YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SELECT YOUR  COLORS UPON ARRIVAL.  

HOW LONG DOES A WORKSHOP LAST?

WE ALLOW 2-2.5 HOURS FOR A WORKSHOP, BUT OF COURSE THAT CAN VARY SLIGHTLY DEPENDING ON THE SIZE/SOCIALIZATION OF YOUR WORKSHOP. WE (INSTRUCTORS AND ATTENDEES) MAY GET CARRIED AWAY IN ALL OF THE FUN. 

 

DO I NEED TO BE CRAFTY TO ATTEND A WORKSHOP?

 

NOT AT ALL! COME READY TO HAVE A GOOD TIME WHILE BEING GUIDED THROUGH THE PROCESS. YOU WILL LEAVE WITH FUN MEMORIES, A LITTLE BIT OF WOOD CRAFTING KNOWLEDGE, AND A BEAUTIFUL WOODEN PIECE! 

 

WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINKS?

 

FOOD AND DRINKS ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE HOST OR WORKSHOP LOCATION. 

 

DO I HAVE TO PICK MY DESIGN BEFORE THE WORKSHOP?

 

DESIGN CHOICES MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. PLEASE BE SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK SPELLING AND DETAILS PRIOR TO THE FINAL PURCHASE. ALL STENCILS ARE PRINTED PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP.

 

DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS?

 

DUE TO THE CUSTOMIZATION OF THE WORKSHOPS, REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE ONCE WORKSHOP REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED. THE GUEST MAY RECEIVE A CREDIT FOR A FUTURE WORKSHOP WITHIN 60 DAYS OF THE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED WORKSHOP, HOWEVER THE DESIGN CHOSEN MUST REMAIN THE SAME.

 

ARE THERE ANY RISKS INVOLVED WITH YOUR WOODWORKING WORKSHOPS?

 

WHILE OUR WORKSHOPS ARE CONSIDERED SAFE, THEY ARE VERY HANDS-ON AND REQUIRE THE USE OF TOOLS, WOOD, PAINTS, STAINS, ETC. IF YOU HAVE A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION THAT WILL INCREASE YOUR LIKELINESS OF EXPERIENCING INJURIES OR BREATHING ISSUES, PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR MEDICAL DOCTOR AHEAD OF TIME.

 

OUR PRODUCTS: THE TIMBERED TOUCH USES WATER-BASED PAINT (LOW ODER) AND WATER-BASED STAINS (LOW VOC). 

WHAT DO I WEAR TO A WORKSHOP?

WE ARE EQUIPPED WITH APRONS FOR UP TO 18 GUESTS. WHILE OUR MESS IS LITTLE TO NONE, WE SUGGEST WEARING COMFORTABLE CRAFTING CLOTHES. ALL OF OUR PRODUCTS ARE WATER BASED AND ANY STAIN OR PAINT ON YOUR HANDS WILL WASH WITH SOAP AND WATER.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE WHEN HOSTING A WORKSHOP?

ALL YOU NEED TO PROVIDE IS SPACE TO HANDLE THE AMOUNT OF PARTICIPANTS, SOME REFRESHMENTS TO ENTERTAIN(YOUR CHOICE), AND A WILLINGNESS TO LEARN. WE PROVIDE TABLES, DROP CLOTHS, AND ALL WORKING TOOLS AND SUPPLIES.

WORKSHOPS HOSTED IN THE MONTHS OF JUNE-EARLY SEPTEMBER MUST BE HELD IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED SPACE. THIS IS DUE TO HEAT AND HUMIDITY AFFECTING THE BOARD PROCESS. WE WANT TO BE SURE EVERYONE'S BOARDS TURN OUT THE BEST THEY POSSIBLY CAN. 

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN ATTEND A WORKSHOP?

 

WORKSHOPS REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 4 GUESTS, EXCLUDING THE HOSTESS. THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF GUESTS IS DETERMINED BY THE HOST/HOSTESS AND THE AMOUNT OF SPACE THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE HAVING USED AT THEIR HOME OR FACILITY. WE BRING ONE 8 FOOT TABLE FOR EVERY 3 GUESTS. THAT SPACE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED WHEN PLANNING YOUR WORKSHOP LOCATION. AVERAGE WORKSHOPS HAVE 4-8 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE.  WORKSHOPS HELD WITHIN 1-2 HOURS FROM LYNCHBURG REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 8 PEOPLE AND A TRAVEL CHARGE. 

FUNDRAISER OPPORTUNITIES

THE TIMBERED TOUCH IS HONORED TO PARTNER WITH VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS AND FAMILIES TO HELP THOSE IN NEED IN OUR COMMUNITY BY OFFERING FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES. AT THIS TIME WE OFFER 6 OR SO FUNDRAISERS A YEAR AND WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO OFFER THEM TO GROUPS WITH A 501C3 STATUS. OUR PARTNERING WITH VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS IS DONE THROUGH A FUNDRAISER APPLICATION PROCESS. INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT (SNOWY/ICY) WEATHER, THE TIMBERED TOUCH CREW AND THE WORKSHOP HOST WILL MAKE A DECISION REGARDING THE WORKSHOP 48 HOURS PRIOR TO THE EVENT. IF THE WORKSHOP IS CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER, ALL GUESTS AND THE HOST WILL BE REFUNDED. THE HOST WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REBOOK IF HE/SHE WOULD LIKE TO.
